WHY IS MY AIR CONDITIONER BLOWING COOL AIR SOMETIMES AND ROOM-TEMPERATURE AIR THE REST OF THE TIME?
Check your thermostat. Your fan setting might be “ON” instead of “AUTO.” If that’s the case, your fan is going to keep pumping out air even when the unit isn’t cooling.
WHY DOES THE AIRFLOW FROM THE VENTS FEEL WEAK?
This could happen because of a handful of things. These are the most common causes:
- Your air filters might be clogged. Try switching them out with new filters and see if that helps with airflow.
- The evaporator coil might be frozen. When that happens, ice can block off airflow. So, while you might be getting cool air through your vents, airflow will be poor.
- The outside unit is dirty and clogged with debris. If the unit cannot efficiently dissipate heat, it will have trouble cooling your home. Remove weeds and dead leaves from around the unit. You can also rinse it off with a garden hose on a gentle setting to wash away dust and dirt.

WHY IS MY OUTDOOR AIR CONDITIONING UNIT MAKING A LOUD NOISE?
The condenser fan motor might be faulty or broken. If you notice that your home is having a hard time cooling down, as well, the motor is likely the problem.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THERE’S A REFRIGERANT LEAK?
The refrigerant—usually Freon—is what absorbs heat from the air and allows your air conditioner to efficiently cool your home. As you can imagine, a leak spells trouble. Keep an eye out for:
- Ice or cold condensation on the indoor unit’s refrigerant line and on the outside unit.
- A bubbling or hissing noise coming from the unit.
- A pattern of difficulty cooling on hot days, but no issues cooling on cooler days or at night.
If you see one or more of these signs, shut your air conditioner off immediately and call us. Running your air conditioner while it’s experiencing a refrigerant leak can do irreparable damage to your compressor.
